Michael John Jeffs, known most of his life as Mick by everyone except of course his Mother, was born in Northwest London just before the outbreak of World War II and had a one-parent upbringing for most of his first eight years. After a wasted four years at grammar school from which he departed early to join the Royal Navy, from which he also departed early to rejoin civvy street, he slowly began to make something of himself as a salesman. At 42 good fortune led him into the travel business where he found his perfect niche, organising then accompanying holidays worldwide with his wife Maureen.
