Reviews

You Aren't Worthless by Kristin N. Spencer examines complicated issues such as self-esteem, body image, and feelings of worthlessness, all in a Christian context. It's an honest examination of life as a Christian -- and as a human being. -Reedsy Discovery This book is exactly what I needed to read at this point in my life. I've always struggled with confidence, but the author's matter-of-fact, biblically supported lessons are full of wisdom, and opened my eyes to how God sees us. The topics in this book range from insecurities to our unrealistic expectations to pride, and the author expertly covers them all by always revealing that God should be the source of our confidence, not our own works. This book is definitely one I'll look back on and think about for a while. I ended up with 41 Kindle highlights for this book (though not all visible on Goodreads), so if that doesn't prove it's a must-read, I don't know what does! Overall, I highly recommend this non-fiction book to Christian teens and young adults who struggle with confidence issues or anxiety. -Allyson This book describes so much of my own experience of God's marvelous mercy, grace and healing of a heart hungry for love and acceptance! From an early age, I longed to be loved and accepted by other people. I held impossibly high expectations of friends and family members, wanting them to complete me and reassure me of my worth as a person. Learning to look to God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit as the source of my life and my value has been a difficult but wonderful and completely worth it process. Even though I feel I now have godly confidence, I am thankful that God continues to convict me of sin, bring me to repentance, cleanse me of my sin and heal woundedness I often don't know that I still have! In other words, it's a life-long process of sanctification. I was particularly convicted by Kristin's chapter on pride. Thank you, Kristin, for your transparent sharing of your struggles and for pointing your readers to God. May God bless you abundantly for your witness to Him! I'm eager to share this book with friends who need to read it! -Uptown Girl This book is full of transparency and vulnerability, which is wonderful. I love how each page points you to Jesus and gets you to think about tough concepts that can change your walk with God in an amazing way. I have been very blessed by this book because I have sorely struggled with my own confidence throughout my life. The testimonies and Biblical wisdom throughout each chapter have shown me the importance of surrendering to God and finding my delight and security in Him alone, and HOW to go about doing that. -Nicole
