Reviews

By any assessment this book constitutes a splendid analysis of the ways in which very diverse, embodied, higher education students create themselves in their academic texts, and how they come to position themselves as they do. In my view it also presents a much needed emphasis on academic writing as a site of struggle for students and teachers, offering very practical possibilities for transformative action in our New Times (Lingard & Rizvi, 1997). -- Kate Cadman in Engilsh for Specific Purposes 21, 2002
