Overview

World Racing History chronicles the evolution of auto racing from its start just after the invention of the car into the major sport it is today. Using Race Car Toons - caricatures of actual racing cars throughout history - World Racing History tells this story in a unique way. With the detailed cars and cartoon characters, it makes learning about racing fun and exciting for all ages. There are three primary forms of racing today - Grand Prix, Indy Cars, and Sports Car. World Racing History covers these in detail and touches on other popular forms from around the world including sprint cars, stock cars, touring/GT cars, rallying, and drag racing.

Author Information

I have been a lifelong auto racing fan both as a spectator and a participant. The journey began with my grandfather taking me to watch my uncle race at Williams Grove Speedway. I then drug my parents to the1978 US Grand Prix in Watkins Glen and my friends to the Canadian GP in the 1980's. And I now have attended the Indy 500 for over 35 years in a row. I've experienced a lot of racing history. My interest in racing is one of the main reasons I studied Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University. After graduating, I moved to Indianapolis and started my career in the aerospace industry. In 1999, I formed my own company to primarily serve the racing industry with a high point being the lead designer on the championship-winning Daytona Prototype with FABCAR Engineering. I also raced endure karts for nearly 20 years and designed my own race-winning chassis.Toys have also been of constant interest to me, and not surprisingly, toy cars have been at the center.Combining my interest in toys and auto racing with my engineering background inspired me to create Race Car Toons - caricatures of actual racing cars throughout history. Using these cars, I created this book to tell the story of how auto racing has evolved since its inception to today. I hope you find this book as fun and exciting to read as it was for me to create.Jeffrey Berger
