Well written, informative, educational and thoughtful well executed photography made this well worth what I think is a very reasonable price. I Wish it was at least quarterly vs semiannual. Good job!""Richard Garrow says ""I received my copy yesterday and I must say it is very well written, very detailed, each story has a great content. The pictures look fantastic as well. I believe you going to publish this ones or twice a year is that correct? As look forward to your next issue."""

Author Information

WOODSKILLS team have collectively discovered a niche for a different genre of woodworking magazine. Instead of detailed furniture construction steps, WOODSKILLS delves into the thought process behind a furniture design. We describe techniques and processes to advance you as a woodworker and furniture maker. The focus of the magazine is hand tools with occasional machine use in the preparatory phase of a furniture build. Time and labor-saving precision hand tool techniques are discussed in every issue. We are not averse to the use of machines where it makes sense. It is wiser to emphasize hand tools in the latter stages of a furniture build where attention to detail is necessary. Homage is paid to classic techniques such as dovetail joinery and mortise and tenon joinery. We believe that traditional furniture construction methods should be maintained and passed on to future generations. As testament to their longevity, traditional methods have evolved little over the centuries. As well as the traditional, we put forward modern techniques and processes to make your furniture designs stand out and be unique. Our focus is one of a kind furniture, the unique furniture and wood objects that separate their makers from every other maker. Each issue includes profiles and candid conversations with established furniture designers and makers. Discover what they are passionate about, what drives them and where they draw inspiration from. It is not so much how but the why behind the process that is often critical in a furniture maker's mind and practice.
