Author Information

Gayle Prince Rajtar was born in Orlando into a family that moved to the city over one hundred years ago. She earned a degree in communications while working as a professional singer and drummer and has remained an Orlando resident. As a freshman at Rollins College in 1971, she met Steve in front of Knowles Memorial Chapel, and they were married there in 1974. Steve Rajtar grew up near Cleveland, Ohio; came to Florida for college; earned degrees in mathematics, anthropology, law and taxation; and decided to stay. He has over twenty books published so far, all dealing in some fashion with history, including historical guides for several Central Florida cities. Since December 2008, they have cowritten the monthly Memories column for Winter Park Magazine, and this is their second book collaboration. The first was A Guide to Historic Winter Park, Florida, published by The History Press.
