He began his coaching career with 8 years at the high school level, which included guiding Firelands High School in Ohio—a school that had not had a single winning season until Ramseyer’s arrival—to a 24-2 record during his tenure. Bill then turned to the college level, where he was an assistant coach and head scout for the University of Missouri for the 1969 Big 8 Championship team. From there he moved on to coach the Wilmington College squad, which had accumulated only 28 wins over the previous 15 years. Bill amassed a record of 114-58-4 during his tenure, which included qualifying for the national championship game in 1980. He also earned 5 conference or district coach of the year honors while at Wilmington. Ramseyer completed his career as the first-ever coach at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, which included back-to-back 10-win seasons in 1995 and 1996, the first program ever to accomplish this feat in its first 6 years of existence. Bill holds a PhD from the University of Missouri and has been inducted into seven halls of fame. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
