Author Information

Reiss' first three novels (The Gemini Conspiracy, River of Scorpions and Sacred Pledge) are certainly exciting, but share little with today's genre of mindless violence-based romps, know in the trade as thrillers. In developing his characters and the passions that motivate them, Reiss combines psychological depth together with a vivid and emotional sense of relationships, locales and cultures. When he forms his stories, they flow from personal experience. Winds of Hope and Change is a timeless portraiture of intimate loves--each born of a burgeoning communion of purpose and passion; an epic tale of three couples framed in the decades following Castro's seizure of Cuba. And while sadly, none will live to see the end to tyranny, they become inspirational fibers laced within the living fabric of a future Cuba Libre. As always, Reiss writes about subjects he knows first hand. In Winds of Hope and Change he was inside Cuba before Castro and during the initial stages of the revolution. Reiss' stories framed in earlier times, though not fundamentally historical fiction, entice his audience into colorful and intriguing environments designed to complement his character's interplay with a realism affording his readers the sense that they present-right then. A seasoned writer, physicist and explorer, Reiss resides with his wife Karen, in Wilmington, North Carolina. His son Cory is an attorney in Wilmington, while daughter Victoria, also an attorney, practices in Washington, DC.
