Fox Chapel Publishing is donating another book for a free draw! (See below for details) Wild & Wacky Birdhouses and Feeders Wild and wacky is for sure!!! When I first got the book I immediately started picking out the birdhouses that I would like Rick to build this year. But, before I knew it I think I had every birdhouse checked. There is a cute piano feeder that will be a perfect draw prize at my brother's annual Bluegrass Jamboree There is a unique robin house for, you guessed it, robins! I just have to have one of those There are cutesy birdhouses that just beg to be built The fantastic variety of projects will be perfect not only for my mini forest that I am creating on my piece of land, but also great for gifts. Rick has already made one of the projects as a Christmas present. It was definitely a hit and there were demands for more within seconds of the unwrapping. The plans are great, the photos, wonderful, and as for inspiration - well, two thumbs up! I love this book. My Ratings of The Book Layout and Appearance: Good balance of photos, how-to instructions, projects. Thumbs Up! Instructions: Clear information and instructions Thumbs Up! Projects Selection: A wide variety of projects. Great. Inspiration: Birdhouses, here we come! Thumbs Up! Overall: Thumbs Up! Attract a variety of backyard critters with your whimsical handcrafted bird houses and feeders. From a football helmetshaped house, to a player piano squirrel feeder, the designs in this book will brighten your outdoor space while giving your furry and feathered friends a dry place to eat and sleep. Included are 18 colorful and creative projects meant to bring out the fun in building birdhouses. The book Wild & Wacky Birdhouses and Feeders by Paul Meisel incorporates plans for whimsically styled squirrel feeders -- a player piano, anyone? -- and birdhouses ranging from a football helmet that can be customized to your favorite team to a crowing rooster or cartoon kids. (The author encourages real kids to get involved in the projects.) The book also includes hints on squirrel control, birdseed, perches and more. Winter is the time to stay in the warmth of your woodshop and is also the time that wild birds need your help. Paul Meisel has developed 18 crazy designs and plans to add both a little humor to your backyard and nourishment to the wild birds and even the squirrels. I particularly liked the upside down suet feeder, a great idea as a selective feeder. The window view birdhouse allows you to sneak a peek at the goings on inside a birdhouse. Check out the Beaver and Tree Frog birdhouses, real fun stuff. The Football Helmet Feeder, the Bluebird and the Cardinal Feeders are bound to attract as well. Easy to follow instructions and templates are included.
