Paul Klee was a German painter, one of the influential artists of the 20th century. He was mostly influenced by styles such as cubism, surrealism, and expressionism. He also wrote about color theory in his notes called Writing on form and design theory. This writing was considered to be fundamentally important for modern art, and its importance was even compared with da Vinci's notes that influenced the Renaissance. He was working with Wassily Kandinsky, yet another prominent artist, in a well-known art school called Bauhaus. His influence on abstract art was huge, and he was one of the pioneers of that style. His works inspired Salvador Dali, Mark Rothko, and other famous artists of the 20th century. Klee was one of those artists who shaped and changed the course of art in the early 1900's. In his paintings, Klee used shapes, patterns, and colors to convey rhythm and movement. Klee especially loved bright colors and simplicity in his painting. Rather than painting realistic objects, he painted objects that allowed people to experience emotions. He preferred to use as few lines as possible while painting. He painted objects and figures that often resembled colors and forms rather than the real thing. Klee appreciated children's artwork.
