Vivian and Rich Somners Caribbean vacation turns into the ultimate fantasy when they discover a fortune of gold doubloons spread off the beach of an outer island called Whistling Cay. For Vivian, this sweetest of dreams morphs into a nightmare when the next day Rich and the gold vanish. Is his disappearance a result of a kidnapping, or is it an act of selfish abandonment? Chris Kohler, Ph.D., is a professor emeritus of aquatic sciences at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. The international focus of much of his research thrust him amid exotic locales throughout much of the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Whistling Cay draws upon his first-hand experiences, stories conveyed by friends and colleagues, and fragments of storylines gleaned from many fine books and articles written about the Virgin Islands, its people, and their rich culture. Chris lives in Fernandina Beach, Florida, with his lovely wife, Charlee Sue.
