Where You Sit: Explorations in Finding Your Footing in a Moving World

Overview

You Know More Than You Think is a five-book experiential series exploring perceptual literacy: how awareness forms, stabilizes, differentiates, navigates, and ultimately encounters the larger forces shaping reality. Sensitivity without stability can become overwhelming. Stability without sensitivity becomes dull. Coherence is where both can coexist. In Where You Sit, Book Two of the You Know More Than You Think series, Elly Flippen builds on the perceptual foundation introduced in What's Already There and turns toward something essential: how to remain steady while sensing. In a world of constant stimulation (crowded rooms, charged conversations, charismatic personalities, digital intensity, and collective emotional waves) your system is always responding. You may notice shifts in mood that aren't fully yours. You may leave interactions drained. You may sense intensity before you understand it. These experiences are not random. They are signals your system is already registering. This book explores why, and how perception can stabilize so what you sense becomes clear rather than overwhelming. Through grounded, experiential explorations, you begin to: recognize when coherence drops and perceptual noise increases stabilize breath, posture, attention, and emotional tone strengthen perceptual boundaries without shutting down distinguish activation from genuine knowing hold steady in high-intensity environments without merging into them regulate emotional tone without suppressing it remain oriented within digital and collective spaces This is not about becoming less sensitive. It is about becoming steady enough to hold what you sense. You do not need to shut down perception in order to function in the world. You can discover where you sit within it.

Author Information

Elly Flippen is an author and researcher exploring human perception, awareness, and how experience forms in real time. Her work spans experiential, conceptual, and narrative forms, focusing on perceptual literacy-how noticing, meaning, and interpretation take shape before conscious thought. She grew up in close proximity to her uncle, artist and remote viewing pioneer Ingo Swann, where she was immersed in his creative work, perceptual research, and the wider community around it. That experience gave her a first-hand view of how perception operates at the edges of what is usually noticed.
