Overview

Pongo Poetry Project engages youth in writing poetry to inspire healing and growth. Over the past 30 years as a nonprofit organization, we have mentored more than 7,100 individuals in juvenile detention centers, psychiatric hospitals, and other service sites. Research and evaluation have demonstrated the significant therapeutic benefits of our programming and the high levels of satisfaction among the youth we serve. Through our publishing program, we have released poetry collections featuring work authored by youth-Where Hope Seems Impossible is our 17th anthology. Our trainings on the Pongo Method equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to create trauma-informed writing programs inspired by our approach. As a result, over 100 therapeutic poetry programs have been established across the globe.
