OverviewDuring the first half of 2016, Chiketa was diagnosed with Triple Negative Stage One Breast Cancer and spent the year fighting for her life. While enduring a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, breast reconstruction, and several other surgeries, she continued to provide for others, working full time for her own agency and managing another. Considering her professional expertise and life experiences, she frequently speaks to survivors and advocates for mobile mammogram services for those that cannot afford them. Dedicated to those less fortunate, she contributes by supporting patients without insurance through charitable events as well as working with her nonprofit organization Black Nurses Society Greater Arlington. An expert in her field, Ms. Kelly-Dale earned an Associate of Science in nursing from the International College of Health Sciences in 2018. Due to her experiences as both a nurse and a patient, she authored When the Nurse Becomes the Patient: Conquering Breast Cancer and co-authored CPR for the Soul: Daily Devotions for Nurses. She is also the author of How Do you Mend a Broken Heart; Dealing with the Loss of a Parent, and This is Not How it's Supposed to Be; Navigating Life after the Loss of a Child.
