Overview""What a Journey"" is a fictional children's book that teaches themes of love, kindness, compassion, and inclusion. It celebrates the differences we all have, not just in the way we look, but in the trials we experience. In the book, Journey the goat goes to school and notices she is different from the other young goats, due to her disabilities. Journey has one leg that is too long, one that is too short, and an ear that is longer than the other. While Journey the goat is a fictional character in the story, the book is based on a real-life goat named Journey that had these same disabilities and was cared for by the Ima Survivor Sanctuary in Plum Grove, Texas from March 2021 - July 2021. The summary of the book reads: The first day of school is exciting for everyone, and Journey is no different. But Journey is different. Oh, how she wishes she could be like the other kidds (young goats) in class! Then, throughout the school year, something amazing happens: Journey's classmates want to be like her. Unknowingly, Journey teaches them that being different brings everyone closer together. She inspires everyone to look beyond what you see and focus on what's in your heart.
