Author Information

"Originally from Saskatchewan, I moved to Prince George in 1974 and taught secondary school art in all disciplines before retiring in 2009. I attended UBC and UVic to obtain a master's degree in art education (1992). During my tenure as an art teacher, I produced my own artwork and classroom demonstration work. After my master's degree, besides teaching I went into more depth in my personal work. In ""retirement"" I seek to examine my personal style, my aesthetic and artistic interests. In August of 2013, we moved to Galiano Island, British Columbia, Canada, where I opened a small gallery to display my work. I work in a variety of painting and graphic styles as well as in wood carving and sculptures. I feel equally at home creating art that is abstract or realistic, large or small, colour or black and white. The ""Whale World"" colouring book came from my desire to understand the sea life of the West Coast of Canada. First I studied and drew, then I invented, because nature creates, ""invents"", so much variety that it gave me courage to create my own sea life variations."
