Overview

The Working Group Small Bodies Nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union is the organization responsible for approving proposed names for minor planets (asteroids) and for assigning names to newly-discovered comets. The WG publishes WGSBN Bulletins about every three weeks, announcing the new names of minor planets that were proposed by the discoverers and which have been approved by the WG. This is a collection of the 16 WGSBN Bulletins that were published in 2022, and includes name- and number-order indexes of the new names. The book is intended both for professional astronomers, as well as amateur astronomers and members of the general public interested in minor-planet names.
