Author's granddaughter What a great book! As a reminder of our childhood days of long ago and of growing up in a small town of 950 people. Traces the career of a small town boy who leads a great life. As a believer in Christ and as a basketball coach but especially of a Christian man. Those who think that because they come from a small town and don't have much of a chance in the world are able to see that they can affect a lot of people by the kind of life they live. Author Information

Jack grew up in a little farming and coal mining town in Southern Illinois where he became an all-state basketball player. He went on from playing college basketball at Middle Tennessee State University to become an assistant basketball coach at Oral Roberts University from 1970-74. The ORU teams won 118 games while losing only 23 games during that period that ended with the 1974 Titans (now known as the Golden Eagles) playing in the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament. Jack spent 21 of his 30 years in education coaching basketball at all levels; high school, junior college and college. A Christian that believes the definition of success is what a person does with what God has given them and how those gifts are used to help others, that He has put in your path, to fulfill their purpose in this life.
