Overview

This book focuses on oilfield performance analysis and development adjustment by integrating geology, applied mathematics, and other relevant theories. Based on the abundant and detailed field test and production data from Daqing and Tarim, two major oilfields in China, the regularities, characteristics, design, and adjustment of waterflooding development of sandstone reservoirs throughout the life cycle are described. Field development theories and practices are organically combined in this book, which, embracing comprehensive, systematic, and pragmatic contents, is conducive to development technicians to quickly grasp the characteristics of waterflooding and prepare adjustment plans. It is also useful as a textbook in petroleum colleges and short training courses.

Author Information

Professor J.H. Wang is a well-known oil and gas field development expert in China. He was engaged in infill drilling adjustment of waterflooding development of sandstone reservoirs in Daqing Oilfield in the 1970s, devoted himself to efficient development of deeply buried reservoirs in Tarim Oilfield and RIPED, PetroChina, in the 1990s, and then worked as a consultant in CNPC Consultancy Committee and other institutions. Professor Wang has experienced the whole process of zonal water injection with basic, line, and areal well patterns to infill drilling adjustment in tertiary recovery while working in Daqing Oilfield, making significant contribution to the establishment of waterflooding development mode in China. He worked out the first FDP featuring horizontal wells in China while working in Tarim Oilfield, being a pioneer in the transformation from vertical well development favor to horizontal well development favor in China. Professor Wang possesses rich experience also in development management. He has published multiple books and papers, e.g., Analysis on the Application of Horizontal Wells in China (Petroleum Industry Press, 2003), Secondary Oilfield Development Technology and Practices in China (Petroleum Industry Press, 2012), Stable Production with Zonal Water Injection and Infilling Adjustment of Well Pattern in Multi-layer Reservoir Development (ACTA petrologica Sinica, 2009), and Design of Horizontal Section for Development of Medium and High Permeability Reservoirs with Horizontal Wells (Acta Petrolei Sinica, 2008). He has won three China National Science and Technology Progress Awards and enjoys the special allowance of the State Council.
