This book, Water and Energy Nexus: Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable Planet, is born from the conviction that this challenge must be met with practical, engineering-focused solutions. It moves beyond high-level policy discussions to delve into the mechanics, systems, and technologies that can drive real-world efficiency and resilience. We will explore the energy intensity of desalination and wastewater treatment, the water footprint of various power generation methods, and, critically, how to integrate these systems-from massive utility-scale operations down to the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within our buildings.
