"Vision is perceived in the brain. Eyes act as a camera. Mind is uniquely individuated in each of us even though, anatomically and functionally, the human brain is the same. The meaning of vision will depend on what context it is used. There is physiological vision and a philosophical vision. In each portrait, I saw something more than the costumes that attracted me and provoked my initial curiosity. Each person conveyed something that led me to photograph them. To give a few examples, when I looked at a little Nepali girl........ Words of wisdom do not necessarily have to come from a saint or an intellectual. Often an ordinary person may express very meaningful words of wisdom without even realizing. I came across such a situation. Several years ago I went to Baltimore port. There a forklift operator said "" ...... Think for yourself. You may have several pearls of wisdom buried in your own mind that which may even be........."

"Prof. Bala V. Manyam is a physician-scientist. From an early age, he was interested in reading philosophical and religious books. He enjoyed attending philosophical discourses. As a keen observer of many events that occurred in his life and around him, he summarized his thoughts into one or two sentences. That collection formed the basis for the Wisdom segment of his book. He has been an avid photographer which took him around the world, especially to Asia. Several photographs that were taken there formed the basis for the Vision segment of this book. In addition to modern medicine, Manyam studied Ayurveda and nutrition. His research in neurological diseases and drug development has received multiple research grants. His first book was on medical humor; ""Ah"" Amerikannada Humor was published in late 2012 (language-Kannada). He has authored over 50 general articles and 250 scientific articles. He has delivered talks on various neurological subjects at several universities and conferences, both national and international. Manyam is listed in Best Doctors in America, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Leading Health Professionals of the World, and others. He was named as one of the Best Doctors in the America Midwest Region. On YouTube he has over 115 documentaries on art, botanical gardens, Buddhism, Hinduism, and travel under penname O.K. Henry. He currently lives in Tampa Bay with his wife, Rani. They have one daughter, Shaila. His hobbies include Indian art collecting, Ancient Hindu temple architecture outside India, history of medicine, creative writing, travel and photography."
