Author Information

Anthony Rosato is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. His current research interests are in particle technology, with an emphasis on computational modeling, including discrete element and Monte Carlo simulations. His recent interests are in computational modeling and dynamical systems approaches to wave propagation in granular systems. He was the founding director of the Particle Technology Center from 1995-99, and the director of the Granular Science Laboratory from 1999 to the present. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Mechanics Research Communications, and is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Academy of Mechanics. Kit Windows-Yule is a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK. His research concerns the experimental study and numerical simulation of granular media, and the development of new positron imaging techniques and numerical models for the investigation of both particulate and multiphase flows. Kit works closely with industrial partners in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical sectors, using these methods and models as tools for the design and optimization of process equipment. His current research carries a particular focus on the use of particulate media to develop novel waste-plastic recycling systems.
