OverviewDavid Tinling grew up and was educated in the Pacific Northwest. He arrived in Upstate New York in 1960 as a twenty-six-year-old psychiatry resident in training; eager to connect with his family's history in Upstate, which went back to the Revolutionary War. He became an academic, mind-body physician at the University of Rochester, owned and lived in the eastern most Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie House, actively involved himself in the Upstate literary scene, hiked and climbed its trails and mountains, cross county skied in its snowbound wilderness, made conceptual art illuminating its history, wrote poetry and fiction depicting its peoples and customs and brings many of these experiences together in these reflections on his life and his family in Upstate.
