Overview"UPROOTED... from Africa to America to Bring Forth Fruit, by Zaire Feronz, was written upon request to help middle-to-high school students have a more in-depth knowledge of Black History. The content of this textbook covers 250 years, spans two continents, and highlights nearly 400 African American inventors-with more than 1,000 inventions; educators, journalists, political figures, and community leaders who changed our world. In this volume you'll discover the brilliance and depth of creativity of former slaves, or descendants of slaves of the 18th and 19th century as they embraced freedom. Free from bondage, shackles, chains, and whips, there was nothing they couldn't do. From the work of their hands, came scientific discoveries and ""witty"" inventions, that helped America become the great nation it is today. As America advanced, the world would reap, and enjoy, the benefits of their achievements for more than a hundred yrs. You will see how African American men and women made history and excelled in every walk of life. If you love history, you're in for a treat. May this book inspire you to use the genius of talent that lies within you to enrich the lives of others someday." It's general enough to cover a lot of ground, and specific enough in places to be very personal. As your target audience is ...students, likely grades 7 through 12, the narrative's topics and pacing are good."" Joel Stone, Historian, Curator{retired}, Detroit Historical Museum I absolutely love Uprooted.... Bobbie Fowlkes-Davis ""I enjoyed Uprooted.... Volume I. I want all of my family to have a copy of this book. I'd like to get 12 more."" M. McKissac, retired Teacher, Youth Mentor ""Uprooted... is an interesting read. Zaire Feronz is a prolific writer."" D. L. Head, Historian, Author Such a book is, indeed, timely. She presents emancipation in the mind, not just physically. Facilitates freedom through education, literature and deep thinking. Goals--will help the teacher(s) establish guidelines and parameters for teaching, using this book as one of the tools. Finally, healing is the process of combining the information, knowledge, and further developing a skill set for improving life through literature (with history being a critical component). There remains a great deal of gain from this plethora of information. Dr. Genevieve Yarrell-Harris, President, Enhancing Minds Services" Author Information"As a child, Zaire Feronz enjoyed hearing the stories her parents shared about their family, and always yearned to know more about her roots. The insatiable desire for knowledge increased as she participated in her local church's annual Black History orators contest, from age 12 to 14. The early experience of research and public speaking was preparing her for a greater task. When Ed Foxworth, former Educational Director of the Charles Wright Museum, requested that she write an African American History textbook for middle-to-high school students, Feronz began the task without hesitation. After years of research, she is pleased to present ""UPROOTED...""" Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
