OverviewFor the longest time I have written poem after poem trying to bring clarity and closure to help explain the hardest parts of my life. This collection of poems has been a long time coming. I have written a poem every day for the last 15 years in order to help heal from trauma, heartache, and a series of choices. When I was curating this book I wanted it to be in a frame of becoming the woman I am today. Unveiling the Mask is a reference to no longer hiding who I truly am and finally revealing the authentic charismatic empowering friend you see today. When I started embracing who I was I finally found a place that made sense. There have been several events in my life that have left me broken and bruised and through all the brokenness I finally realized that I can glue myself back together. I don't need to hide my scars nor need someone else to fix them. I can wear my wounds with pride and through these poems I am practicing the art of Kintsugi on my heart, mind, and spirit. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of utilizing gold glue to put pottery back together after it is broken. This is me embracing my flaws and imperfections to grow. Hopefully these poems will speak to you in some way and help you on your journey to heal your cracks as well.
