Overview

Erin Rines is caught in continuous peril while investigating the concealed murders. She plows her way through mud and bear country in her large, Northern Ontario community to care for patients, over time finding more than one partially buried body. The surrounding earth of both town and forest becomes saturated with the steady, spring rains, causing the muddy ground to erratically move in a compulsive, sometimes deadly slide. Will a persistent and indiscriminate murderer lure Erin toward further danger and cause the sodden earth to swallow her and others, some of them not so innocent, into a surplus of obscure graves?

Reviews

A home care registered nurse who keeps discovering bodies while visiting patients, a police inspector who resents her attempts at uncovering clues and yet appreciates her information, elderly ladies who notice things, men shooting guns at unexpected visitors, and bears, all the ingredients to keep the reader guessing to the end. - Joan Donaldson-Yarmey, author of the Dating Coach Mystery Series. In smart and sexy home visit nurse Erin Rine, Betty Guenette has delivered the perfect heroine. Erin's knack for stumbling over dead bodies while making her rounds is matched only by her doggedness in solving the murders. Throw in a smitten police inspector and a psychic elderly sidekick, and the Zodiac series offers lots of fun for those who love their mysteries with a subtle touch of the uncanny. - Scott Overton, author of Dead Air and Augment Nation.
