OverviewThe papers in this volume represent a selection of reflections of contemporary Chinese and western philosophers invited to discuss this topic in a conference held at Marquette University. Noteworthy throughout the various papers represented in this volume is how the Chinese and Western authors mutually attempt to integrate ideas from their respective Chinese and Western æsthetic theories and art practices into their respective contemporary theories. Thanks to the authors, Noël Carroll, Cheng Xiangzhan, Stephen Davies, Peng Feng, Garry Hagberg, Liu Yuedi, Richard Shusterman, Wang Chunchen, Jason Wirth, and Mary Wiseman for making available their essays presented at the conference for publication in this volume.
