OverviewTerrorism has become one of the most complex socio-political phenomena in the last twenty years. It has probably existed since ancient times; however, some factors may have considerably changed its nature and degree. The study of terrorism has not been without controversy, especially when its concept disclosure is considered. Scholars have compiled hundreds of definitions, which forces an analysis of how heterogeneous terrorist behavior could be, since actors can be typified on the basis of multiple variables. In this sense, the field of political psychology may prove useful in understanding the dynamics of terrorist organizations within the structure of the society. This conceptualization explores behaviours, beliefs, feelings, perceptions and other inner group dynamics that helps to explain how individuals move toward conflict and violence.
