Overview

Terrorism has become one of the most complex socio-political phenomena in the last twenty years. It has probably existed since ancient times; however, some factors may have considerably changed its nature and degree. The study of terrorism has not been without controversy, especially when its concept disclosure is considered. Scholars have compiled hundreds of definitions, which forces an analysis of how heterogeneous terrorist behavior could be, since actors can be typified on the basis of multiple variables. In this sense, the field of political psychology may prove useful in understanding the dynamics of terrorist organizations within the structure of the society. This conceptualization explores behaviours, beliefs, feelings, perceptions and other inner group dynamics that helps to explain how individuals move toward conflict and violence.

Author Information

Rogelio Alfonzo was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1986. Writing has always been his passion and in 2014 he published his first two books: a fiction novel and an academic work on terrorism. The works are published under his label, RAM Edition, that brings together RAM fiction and RAM academic for scholarly works. Rogelio has travelled extensively, studying and living in various countries gaining insight into cultural differences and exploring his interests in journalism, international relations, economics, and films. He holds a Masters in International Relations (Monash University, Australia 2012), a Masters in Counter Terrorism Studies (Monash University, Australia, 2013), a Bachelor of Entrepreneurial Economics, Honours (Metropolitan University, Venezuela), a Diploma of International Analysis, Diploma of Management and Globalisation and Diploma in Media, Journalism (NSW TAFE, Australia, 2014).
