Two Magpies is the greatest thing to happen to Suffolk this decade. Rebecca and her team make the greatest bread, the most wholesome but imaginative cakes, and have a mission to use local ingredients which inspire game-changing results. Hers is the only shop I will happily queue in. And I'll be doing the same at the bookshop when her recipes are finally published. * Emma Freud *

Author Information

In 2013, Rebecca Bishop founded the Two Magpies Bakery in Southwold, Suffolk, producing long-fermented sourdough bread, glazed cakes and pastries. Rebecca previously worked as an art teacher in Hertfordshire, baking in her spare time, and has completed a bread-baking course at The School of Artisan Food, Nottinghamshire. A year after opening, the bakery was shortlisted for the Observer Food Monthly Awards. Branches have since opened in Darsham, Aldeburgh and Woodbridge (Suffolk) and Norwich, Blakeney and Holt (Norfolk), with plans for further expansion. Rebecca won Gold at the World Bread Awards in 2014 and 2015 and is a keen promoter of the Real Bread Campaign. She also enjoys teaching at her bakery school and has given demonstrations at Latitude festival and the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival. Rebecca has three grown-up children and lives in Suffolk.
