Reviews

This book offers a wide-ranging introduction to individuals and influences that are the foundation of twentieth century photography in the United States. Focusing on both well known as well as less familiar but influential photographers, Congdon and Hallmark provide an encyclopedic look at the lives of those individuals whose artistic method and imagery have given contemporary photography its rich and enduring texture. This book will be a valuable resource for students interested in photography. -Laurie E. Hicks, Professor of Art, University of Maine
