Russell has written of the experience losing her mother before she was two years old and getting to know her mother through letters 40 years later. The result is called Tuskegee Love Letters-- a one-act play, which is performed in regional theaters across the country and sold in book form via Amazon.com. Russell has performed hundreds of times at colleges, schools, and festivals in her one-woman show on the life of Sojourner Truth. Her performances have taken her to South Africa and to the George W.
