A man of great conviction and presence, Glyn Wood was a virtual ever present in the Bedford team that I coached, and which ultimately won promotion at the end of the eighties, to what is now called The Rugby Premiership. Utterly honest and reliable, Woody belonged to that honourable band of Corinthian rugby players who played hard but fair . Never one to start trouble, he wouldn't take a backward step should it occur. His powerful carrying and bone crunching tackles could be game-changers, and his larger than life personality made my job a lot easier. Any coach would want characters like Woody in the team. Richard Chadwick, former coach, Bedford Blues I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of your life, and discovered quite a bit about you that I hadn't gleaned beforehand. Here is a very honest portrayal of someone growing up in the sixties and seventies, becoming a high level rugby player (amongst other skills) who is very aware of his own strengths and weaknesses as he makes his way through the navy and into business. Through it all is woven his Christian faith, which is clearly deep rooted and which he seeks to integrate with his daily life - and that chimes with what I know of Glyn. Here is someone whose faith has added colour to a full life giving it a greater sense of purpose and meaning. It is a fascinating story for anyone to read who is involved in the world of sport or the armed forces, which will provoke stimulate and engage them, not least in raising questions about the difference that God can make in a bloke's life. Well worth reading. Rev'd Mike Talbot. Evangelism Enabler for the Diocese of Carlisle As a man and as a Christian, Glyn is the real deal - authentic, honest and purposeful. This book is the same - an open window on the story of his life and how faith in Jesus has shaped him. Rev'd Canon Steve Benoy. Director of Ordinands Vocation and Formation Team for the Diocese of Peterborough

Richard Chadwick, former coach, Bedford Blues What a great story. Former Rugby star and coach Glyn Wood tells an amazing tale of his life in sport, business and the Royal Navy, including the iconic Field Gun competition at the Royal Tournament. He also weaves fascinating insights from his family life and Christian commitment.
