Reviews

A soft back A4 book full of 75 iron on designs to use for embroidery, either by hand or machine. The book is printed on quality paper, with clear type and colour reproduction. The pictures are so clear you can see the weave structure in the cloth. There is an interesting introduction to Trish who is self-taught but obviously an accomplished embroidery artist. Beautiful large colour photographs show the detail and precision of her work. The shading of the flowers and animals is quite spectacular. Some of the pictures are taken from her other books (Kew), which I would now like to see.  Whilst this book only contains wonderful transfers from nature, mainly flowers with no specific embroidery information, I am sure it will inspire you. There is guidance on how to use the transfers and a website to refer to. Hopefully with a lot of practice and skill, use the transfers and produce your own masterpiece. * Sandra from Half Yard Sewing Club * This book contains a range of transfers from nature, accompanied with some beautiful, coloured photographs showing what can be accomplished. The recommendation is for ‘beginners and more experienced embroiderers’. As a complete novice at embroidery, I would have liked to see more guidance on stitches, threads and step by step guidance. There is information on how to use the transfers, which are reusable, and there is a useful storage pocket at the back of the book to store used transfers. At £10.99, it is good value for money, and would make a unique gift for a more experienced embroider. The book includes examples from Trish Burr's other books, which are lovely. * Jayne from Half Yard Sewing Club * This book was reviewed for the half yard sewing club. It contains 75 iron on transfers of flowers and nature inspired by some of Trish Burrs previous books including The Kew Book of Embroidered Nature Samplers. The designs are very traditional and there are lovely colourful illustrations of some of the finished work including flowers butterflies and small animals or insects. There are no instructions for embroidering the pieces or stitches to use so this is ideal for someone who can already embroider and able to create their own masterpiece. The instructions are given for using the transfers. Good value for a keen embroiderer at £10.99 as the transfers are reusable.  * Jax from Half Yard Sewing Club *
