Overview

This book explores the challenges of teaching journalism and communication in an ever-changing media environment. It considers the classroom as a space of “trial and error” and, therefore, of necessary innovation. It brings together professors and students from different universities across Europe to recount their teaching and learning experiences. Author Information

Sandra Marinho is a teacher at the Communication Sciences Department at the University of Minho, Portugal, and a Researcher at Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade, Portugal. Her main research areas are journalism education and journalism quality. She coordinated the Portuguese journalism education project “Reporters under Construction”, and holds a PhD in Communication Sciences (Journalism Studies). She has published several journal articles and book chapters. Pilar Sánchez-García is Associate Professor at the University of Valladolid, Spain. Her research focuses on the evolution of journalism education and digital media, particularly in professional profiles and multimedia narratives. She has published more than 30 studies on this topic, and served for five years as Vice-Chair of the Journalism and Communication Education group at the European Communication Research and Education Association. She previously worked as a professional journalist for 15 years.
