Prof. Mersel was appointed Convenor and Chair of the FDI Section of Gerodontolgy and the former Director for FDI Europe Continuing Education Program. He currently serves as Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Dental Medicine Department Community Dentistry Jerusalem, and as Director of Studies at The Geneva Institute of Medical Dentistry.
