Overview

Fifteen men on the dead man's chest... yo ho ho and a bottle of rum... When a terrifying stranger arrives at Jim Hawkin's father's inn, he finds himself haunted by his tales of piracy, vengeance and blood on the high seas. But when the stranger mysteriously dies, Jim is pulled into an incredible adventure of his own - a quest to discover the long-lost treasure of the evil, infamous and now-dead pirate, Captain Flint. But this will be no easy journey, as bloodthirsty plans are afoot. Will Jim be able to find the treasure - and get out alive? With a stunning new cover from Kate Greenaway Medal-winner Levi Pinfold, this thrilling pirate adventure is a true classic of its genre, and a must-have for every bookshelf.

Author Information

Robert Louis Stevenson was born in Edinburgh in 1850. He loved to travel and this became the basis of many of his stories. He became famous for novels such as Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde during his lifetime and they have been beloved ever since. The idea for Treasure Island came from a map that he had drawn for his 12-year-old stepson, the pirate story which accompanied the map was serialised in the boys' magazine Young Folks and was later published in book form.
