The book takes place in China in 1380 and is a great historical novel for middle school students studying Ancient China. by Sheila J. Martin, Amazon review The Mei-Hua trilogy books are all well-conceived and give any reader--young adult or fully adult--a look at the different levels of Chinese life in the early Ming dynasty. This book is the most exciting as the young woman, Mei-Hua, walks into danger to try to identify her father's enemies. In the process, she discovers what we might call the organized crime of the late 1300s. Each book in the series stands alone, but prepare to read all three once you start the first (HIDDEN) because you'll want to know how Mei-Hua's adventures end. by Linda, Amazon review Author InformationP.A.
