She is also a journalist writing travel and history articles published in newspapers and magazines in the UK and abroad. She has written author advice articles for 'The Link', the magazine of the National Association of Writing Groups (NAWG). Penny is a member of the Society of Authors, the National Union of Journalists and the Society of Young Publishers. In 2019, Penny and business partner Ian Bayley set up the hybrid publishing company Sabrestorm Stories. This offers a range of hybrid publishing and education options to authors. She is an author coach for Sabrestorm Stories and for an American organisation, where she is also the Publishing Consultant for their publishing arm. Penny has lectured widely in the UK and the USA, and is an accredited speaker with the Carnival cruise lines (Cunard and P&O) and for the Women's Institute. Penny has lectured on journalism, research skills and creative writing at the University of Portsmouth, and on Business Writing at City, University of London.
