Tony Sirico gained a reputation for portraying gangsters on film and television, particularly in Goodfellas, which was directed by Martin Scorsese in 1990 and is considered to be a classic of the mafia genre. He has appeared in a number of films directed by Woody Allen, the most notable of which being the 1994 crime comedy titled Bullets Over Broadway. Tony Sirico began his career as an actor in the 1970s. Since then, he has been in more than - 45 films and 18 television episodes. Before this era, he was indeed a real-life gangster for 28 years until he turned his attention to acting. During that period, he was sentenced to two separate jail sentences. After seeing a performance by an organization for formerly incarcerated people known as the Theater of the Forgotten while serving his second sentence, he made the decision to try his hand at acting, often taking on the role of Italian-American gangsters. Even though Tony Sirico has been in quite a few films, the character he played in the television series The Sopranos is what brought him the most renown.
