Author Information

Sarah Rees writes in the pen name of Lillian Maddison. She writes gritty, true-to-era, historical fiction and her stories are not for the faint of heart. A fascination with historical events and a love of fiction blends effortlessly together to create her books. Sarah loves crime, gangster stories and historical fiction. After a childhood with her head in any book she could lay her hands on and crafting her own short stories, she didn't follow a career in writing. Firstly she worked in an office as a secretary and then studied hairdressing and became a qualifiied hairdresser. She gained a CELTA qualification to teach English as a foreign language in 2018 and often teaches foreign language sudents on a one-to-one basis from her home. Sarah made the choice at 49 to apply to go to University at the Arts University Bournemouth and graduated with a BA in Creative Writing in 2021. An MA soon followed and she graduated from Bournemouth University in 2022 with an MA in Creative Writing and Publishing. This was everything she needed to begin her writing career and her debut novel, To Find a Penny was born. Sarah is now returning to Bournemouth University and will be studying for a PHD and lives in Dorset, England with her husband and daughter.
