Prior to joining Warwick, he held positions at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Edinburgh. In the Fall 2015, he was Carter Visiting Professor of General Jurisprudence at Harvard Law School. He is the sole author of three previous books with OUP: Criminal Responsibility (2005), The Ends of Harm: The Moral Foundations of Criminal Law (2011) and Wrongs and Crimes (2016).
