OverviewObsession, greed and stupidity lead more than one character to do the worst of all possible things in this fast-moving crime thriller about seemingly ordinary people who have the bad luck to get mixed up with some very nasty characters intent on their destruction. Alan is the anti-hero, a young man without a conscience who has an unpleasant secret and often takes what he believes to be the easy way out of difficult situations. His seemingly respectable way of life, working in an office and pursuing his hobby of rare coin collecting in his spare time, collapses when he is wrongly accused of murdering his girlfriend and parents. Eventually released from prison when an alibi witness comes forward, he returns to his previous way of life. And it all goes downhill from there. This is an interesting novel with several contemporary themes of interest to readers of all ages.
