Any list that brings together such a quality line up of authors is going to be welcomed ... Bloomsbury Readers are aimed squarely at children in Key Stage 2 and designed to support them as they start reading independently and while they continue to gain confidence and understanding. -- Andrea Reece * Books for Keeps * This is a very nice and compact history lesson which gives a vivid picture of Georgian London, which could easily be used to support lessons on that period of British history, and especially the subject of the British Empire, slavery, the limitations of medical care in the 1880s, the social divide, and so on. The educational elements are nicely interwoven within otherwise a relatable, adventurous, and heartfelt story to make the reading experience accessible but also fun. -- Marzena Currie * The School Librarian *
