OverviewMathew and his sister, Carly, had an uncertain future until John and Jennie Atkinson came into their lives. Their adoptive parents adored their children and did everything they possibly could to assure they grew up in a safe, happy environment. Mathew had a brilliant mind and, early on, began to show an interest in his father's surgery. With the love of his fiancée, Laura, and the support of his parents, Mathew's future looked bright. Shortly after World War I began, Mathew voluntarily enlisted. Taken in by the propaganda and his desire to help his fellow man, he felt it was his destiny. As a medical doctor, he knew his skills were desperately needed and to 'fight for King and Country' was the honourable thing to do. Despite his parents' pleas to reconsider, he is determined to go. On August 15th, 1915, Mathew leaves the safety of his home and begins his basic training. Follow Mathew during his journey and experience the horror of war as seen through his eyes. How will it affect him? Will Mathew ever recover, or will his life and the lives of his loved ones be changed forever? Full Product DetailsAuthor: Debra E.
