Overview

The entirety of what we discuss and talk about in articles, blogs and social media are the many things wrong with Nigeria including this book. Nigeria's challenges are many when you start trying to analyze the actions, inactions and body language of politicians and those in power. I believe that the many challenges of 57 years of independence can be captured within a year. Simply put, Nigeria's woes have been a deja vu of events. The many cries of corruption, violence, stealing, insecurities, bad news and whatever is peculiar to Nigeria can all happen within one year. You can check it; if they are not exact then they all speak the same broad language of either corruption or budgeting challenges and so forth. We have dwelt so much on the problems, we have gone round in years, we have delayed and fought and wasted years all of the things that can be captured in a year. An academic study of Nigeria will reveal the many years of the experiment we have been on yet made no real progress like counterpart nations. Do I mean that our challenges can be fixed in one year? Far from it. What this means is that the over bloated nature of challenges in the minds of most Nigerians can be fixed when we choose to focus on the root issues, causes, priorities key sectors and ensure that those with huge resultant chain effects are taken care of. We would be healthier if power is fixed because the noise of generators has proved to add to stress, headaches and insanity during the day and night. When we create an enabling environment for people to start businesses, run it for a few years and confident of breaking even without considering the thoughts of MMM or other Ponzi schemes that have pushed Nigerians to desperation to make money. Nigerians love adventure and I don't believe that a regular Nigerian in a system that encourages growth will prefer to put N2 million in a Ponzi scheme when he can buy a machine that manufactures toothpicks or makes nails for women or produces hair extensions or toothbrushes and pastes. The excitement to explore is enough to venture, work, have fun, and build an empire of businesses. It is not in the character of Nigerians home and abroad to shy away from the fun of business, doing something new or start afresh. We are Nigerians and no country on earth is us and what we do, have done and can still do. There is no reason why young girls should be leaving this country and find themselves getting drowned in the Mediterranean. It is an anomaly to the potential we have, to the heights we can achieve far beyond other countries that don't equal the blessings of God on our lands, seas, air and atmosphere. I should not have my childhood friends in Awo-Omamma all sojourning to Western nations all because the opportunity to do what they love and enjoy has been denied. Our ladies should not be turned to tools of satisfaction in the hands of men who squander our national and commonwealth because they are vulnerable. Friends, the failure of Nigeria is not the failure in our character as citizens but the frustrations of a system that failed from inception. Let history be blessed but we have refused to change it and those who had the power to prefer to keep rocking the boat, hold the forte and Aluta Continua. Who, who, who and who will change this system for us? How long can we endure the bastardization of our youths or the loss of lives on our highways? How long will I continue to lose friends like Alozie and Kennedy or my aunties who did no wrong asides being Nigerians? We know our problems and the same dosage of how to solve them why then have we been delaying? What is your proof of patriotism if you prefer that the system that is clearly corrupt should remain because you are benefiting from it?It is time for a new dawn in our land, on our borders, in our airspace and within this territory called Nigeria.
