He received his PhD from University of Cincinnati. He is author of The Freedom Fighter: A Terrorist’s Own Story. His current research is focused on examining the issue of radicalization into terrorist organizations and understanding public opinion on terrorism, counterterrorism policies, and other pressing social issues. His research has been published in journals such as British Journal of Criminology, Crime & Delinquency, and Terrorism & Political Violence. Melissa M. Sloan is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at the University of South Florida. She received her PhD in Sociology from Vanderbilt University. Her research interests include the sociology of emotion, with a particular focus on fear of terrorism and psychological well-being, and the interdisciplinary research process. Her research has been published in journals such as Social Psychology Quarterly, Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World, and the American Review of Public Administration.
