OverviewHow can one boy change the minds of his neighbors? When Matthew LaCraft's father gives up his ship, the Mary Jean, Matthew is going to have to stay home and go to school. I thought it was an excellent portrayal of a young boy's coming of age. In this book, Matthew not only learns the importance of school, but also the importance of standing up against prejudice and social injustice. I thought this book was terrific!
