Overview

THE CONFESSIONAL: This is my first and only book. It's not fiction, nor is it non-fiction. It IS FRICTIONal. I don't expect you to agree with me. I want you to THINK... not because I am a famous celebrity or a war hero. I am just an ordinary guy just like many of you. You may not find me sitting next to you on a bar stool, but you might find me, along with other parents, watching a High School baseball or soccer game, maybe in a stadium rooting for my hometown football team, or giggling over one of my sweet great grandkids learning while dreaming of becoming a ballerina. Like you, I have lots of experience in writing, ...checks to pay the household bills. What made me take this daring path to write a book? A friend recently heard me address an audience and scolded me, You are a PREACHER of PATRIOTISM. Write a book! That gave me reason to ponder. Isn't every American a patriot? Of course, everyone who has served or is serving in the military has shown by their actions and deeds they are true patriots, but are all the other 300 million demonstrating their love for America by their daily doings? Are some of their deeds stonewalling progress, or have they turned their backs on fellow Americans instead of building the GRANDEST GENERATION of Americans for the common good? Then I decided I would write a memoir to my family to share the history of my life from serving in World War II, while being part of America, and observing these years since 1941. Once I started I found the bedrock of my existence is the romance with my wife and our family. The paths I followed as my life went on were not chosen, but were ordained, for better or for worse. I am inviting you to follow me through this mish-mash of adventures that will lead you to use your own common sense, and to voluntarily invest your common two cents for the common good to help bless America. Do it starting now! Thank you for reading and THINKING - COMMON CENTS. EARL LITTMAN
