Gary D. Schmidt is the best-selling author of many books for young readers, including Just Like That; National Book Award finalist Okay for Now; Pay Attention, Carter Jones; Orbiting Jupiter; the Newbery Honor and Printz Honor Book Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy; and the Newbery Honor Book The Wednesday Wars. He is a professor of English at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fred Berman is the award-winning narrator of over 300 books. A New York native, Berman brings energy and enthusiasm to every project, whether it's mystery or fantasy, biography or YA. Berman is an accomplished actor on both stage and screen as well, performing on Broadway as Timon in The Lion King and off-Broadway in The Normal Heart, Room Service, and Bury The Dead, among others. Berman has had roles on HBO's High Maintenance as well as the NBC series New Amsterdam, Smash, and Law & Order, and Forever on ABC. His film work includes Putzel, The Judge, Twelve Thirty, A Very Special Episode, and Directing Eddie. He is cohost of the popular movie podcast Opening Weekend. Fred is also a drummer and played for many years with the NYC rock legends Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday, and he recently directed Lisa in the critically acclaimed world premiere of her one-woman show, Trans Am. He lives in New York with his wife and two kids, banging out Rush songs on the drums in his basement in his spare time.
