Overview

"AMONG THOSE WHO SERVED, EACH HAS A STORY.Rube Goldfarb, no longer wearing the Red Cross on his uniform, but the letters ""MP"" on his helmet, begins a series of adventures with three other military policemen that will test their very survival. On one assignment, the MPs escort a secret outfit known as the Ghost Army to Luxembourg during the Battle of the Bulge. Barely avoiding death at a small town near Bastogne, Rube's crew must cross a treacherous frozen lake to prevent capture or worse. As Allied forces advance toward the German border, MP units are assigned to be the watchdogs for the engineers building a pathway over the Siegfried Line. With the war entering its final phase, Rube becomes part of a team providing security for a transportation network in Belgium and plays an active role in skirmishes at a castle and tunnel. While in the city of Antwerp, Rube discovers a hideout where young people dance to the music of big bands and joins them. When a USO show arrives, the MP and a former Rockette spend a memorable evening with one of the stars. At the conclusion of the war, Rube becomes part of the operation of returning America's fighting force back home and uncovers a plot created by individuals seeking to escape prosecution for crimes against humanity. As 1946 approaches, Rube wonders if he will ever return home to the nation's capital."
